In less than a week Ill be back in Alexandria Egypt continuing excavation on the site of Cleopatra's Palace with Franck Goddio and his team. An Exhibition of some of the things we have found there relating to the live of the famous queen is opening Oct 14 2011 in Milwaukee, and CBS news recently interviewed Goddio and Stacy Schiff, author of a recent and acclaimed biography of the most powerful woman in history.
I just bought the book and plan to read it during the excavation, plus 2 others. Any Sugestions?

I met Ken Hayes, Founder and Presedent of Aqua Survey, Inc. in Egypt in 2001 during the discovery and excavation of the lost city of Herakleion. Being the only American on Franck Goddio's team, I was assigned to wrangle a boat for Ken and Jim Nichols as they took core samples of the Nile River Delta so that Dr Jean Daniel Stanley of the Smithsonian could try to figure out why it sank. We got along great from the start, and within a few days Ken asked if I would be able to participate in some of ASI's exciting work in the future. With just a brief overview of the projects ASI was involved in the answer was an easy one. You bet I would.
Ken likes to refer to ASI as "A scientific company that finds things that shouldn't be there, mostly in the
water." Since 2001 I have continued to work for ASI on all maner of scientific projects, as research vessel captain, scientific diver, field technician , or cameraman. I cant wait to see what we get involved in next.

Here is my desk. On it is a model of Eric De Bisschop's Raft "Tahiti-Nui" I was working on. As popular as Thor Heyerdahl was, the fallout from his smear campagn on early navigators persists today. If  De Bisschops work was better known that wouldn't be the case.

First of all, every traveler  needs a base of operations, a place to store their maps, skull collections, and exotic beverages, etc.
For 20 years my office has been in  in the bell tower of this old Church in Key West Florida.
My Wife and I bought the building, empty and deconsecrated, a haven for pigeons and occasional movie props, and fixed it up over the years.  Her art gallery is now in the main foyer.

Aqua Survey got hired to do what we do best, find things that dont belong in the water, about 10 houses down from the most infamous residence in Amityville, New York. As if its not enough that I have to deal with ancient Egyptian Curses on an annual basis, now This.
