I usually get to hear inspiring tales of the search for extraterrestrial life from Astro-biologist Nathalie Cabrol in the cool thin air of the Andes, after long days of wrangling robotic exploration vehicles or investigating volcano crater lakes. Always fascinating, in any setting.

Statistically speaking, a meteorite is just as likely to land right where you are standing as on the frozen blue licebeds of Antarctica. So why have over 20,000 of them been found in the Transantarctic Mountains by members of ANSMET, and only 5 in the entire state of Florida?
