I jumped at the opportunity to take the train up to Cairo and spend a few days wandering around the very exciting Islamic District, especiallly Khan Al Khalili, a shopping district that has been active for about 1400 years, and have tea in a tea shop that has been open every day for 200 years.

oooh, this market looks so interesting. I could wander for days! It looks great. Do you have to learn any local dialect, or custom so as not to make some major gaffe?

Hey Mo, I have been picking up Egyptian Arabic for a couple of years now, especially when working with the crew on our little boats, and that hs given me a pretty good start on communication and culture. I hope to actually start a proper Arabic Language course soon.

Bonjour! My name is Samantha. You did a presentation for Madame Palay's class last week and I was soooo fascinated about everything you talked about. It is amazing what you do and find. I love history so having you in come in and talk about what you do was awesome!! Also, how speaking another language has helped you in life with your career. I was just wondering...what is the next thing your going to search for? Would love to hear more. Au revoir!!
