Today Scanners have offered us an opportunity to re-evaluate ourselves through a close inspection of that shoebox full of old photos.
I've decided to embrace the throw-back-thursday mentality and dig up some experiences that have been collecting dust, like this selfie from an adventure in the Sahara,' 93-'94 , one of my first trips as a professional adventurer. Memories of this trip were dredged up when I watched the tragic and beautiful film "Timbuktu" on my recent flight back from Cairo.
Once I got home I dug through the archives and found photos and negatives from that time. Lots of grainy, poorly framed and out of focus photos, like the one above, that are evidence of an incredible adventure but just don't capture what I really saw. Wait, wasn't there some video, too? Gotta find it!
I pray that someday I'll be able to capture a moment and make something beautiful to share.
